Gear Junkie Part 1

My new favorite piece of hardware. The Linksys WRT54GS that I've amped up with a pair of 9 dBi antennas. This is the first part of my wireless network and has been great. I'll hold on to this until 802.11N becomes commonplace in notebooks.

Great range, particularly combined with my other access points. Excellent signal throughout the house!

Ah, I remember the days when you used to overamp their vision modules and turn them into jukeboxes - oops, wrong guy. But I do remember you making your own camping equipment! I'd like to hear if you think your "gear junkie" tendencies as a youth have benefited you during your career. I can recognize a lot of my work today though how worked then - obviously, I must be a "liberal arts" knitter. So - discuss among yourselves.

Yes, gear junkies do seem to gravitate towards certain careers. Mine involves helping customers make stuff out of goopy, stinky, messy stuff so all those experiences pay off someday!
